Inspiration

My artwork is influenced by French Academic Realism and Impressionism, but even more so by Surrealism. An avid hiker and camper, I draw inspiration from the endless beauty found in the natural world. 

The mediums I enjoy making art with are graphite, charcoal, pastel, tattoo, watercolor, gouache, pen and ink, acrylic and oil. It's important that I change mediums often because it pushes me out of my comfort zone and keeps me looking from a fresh perspective and grounded in the now. 

My love of painting started when I saw Winslow Homer's 'The Fog Warning' at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in 2nd grade. By 3rd grade I befriended another artist who generously shared her knowledge of oil pastels, and she was just one of countless other teachers that have helped me along the way.
